My 5 daily non-negotiables

Hi Reader,

I avoid business conferences like the plague.

I’m a classic introvert, and all that small talk and networking drains me.

That said, I’ve been spending too much time working in my home office lately.

So, I went to a big business conference in Dublin a few days ago.

I enjoyed meeting other business owners.

I was surprised to discover many don’t know how to use email to connect with customers.

A few asked me how to get started…

Meeting these business owners gave me ideas for topics to write about and products to create.

Tim Grover spoke at the conference, too.

He’s the guy Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant hired to train them for NBA championships.

You’ll find dozens of motivational shorts from Grover on YouTube.

Dressed in a tailored brown suit, pausing for emphasis and peering into the distance, he told the conference:

“Success and winning is what you do despite how you feel.”

Grover’s mantra got me thinking.

Sometimes, I’ll come across another creator’s profile or business and feel jealous of their success.

How are they doing that?

Or I’ll look at my web stats and earnings and sweat about the direction of my writing business.

But the growth of another person’s business shouldn’t impact what I’m doing unless I can learn and use one of their strategies.

I’ve wasted hours on SEO X reading unhappy tweets from bloggers and content publishers.

People who, like me, lost the bulk of their web traffic thanks to a series of brutal Google updates.

For bloggers and publishers, less traffic means less revenue.

I don’t need a therapist or even Tim Grover to tell me too much rumination is bad.

My stats are down, but that doesn’t matter because I changed the model of my writing business a while ago.

Whatever’s happening with my stats or on SEO X, I focus on my five daily non-negotiables.

These are:

  1. Writing and sending a daily newsletter (you’re reading it)
  2. Posting and engaging on LinkedIn to grow my list
  3. Make a daily offer to either join my email list or the Pro Writers Only Coaching program (if a spot is open)
  4. Reaching out to several potential clients
  5. Holding coaching calls with a select group of writers

You might not be running a business like mine. And perhaps your writing goals differ. But here's a question:

What are the 3–5 things you must do daily to drive your writing business forward?

Finally, I’m opening up Pro Writers Only in a few days. If you’d like to learn more, reply and ask.

Write on,
Bryan Collins

History tends to repeat itself, and RYSE's launch in +100 Best Buys points towards their company being the next home run.
