Content repurposing 101

Hi Reader,

When I started writing online, I thought I could write about one idea...ONCE.

I also struggled to write and publish content consistently.

Finding something new to write about EVERY WEEK was tough.

Fast forward a few years...

Now, here’s what my current publishing plan looks like:

  • x1 long YouTube video per week
  • x6 shorts per week
  • 3-4 emails per week
  • x 14 Tweets and Threads per week
  • x1 LinkedIn post per day
  • x1-2 articles per week

Sounds like a lot, right?

Well, I read a few good content marketing books and stumbled across the concept of a content pillar.

A content pillar is a meaty piece of content a creator can dine off for a few days, weeks, or even months.

I spent one to two hours a week writing one pillar piece of content.

Usually, it’s a long-form article.

I’ll publish that article on my site and sometimes on Medium or LinkedIn.

Then, I’ll repurpose my pillar content in several different ways.

I’ll turn parts of the article into posts for X and LinkedIn.

I’ll rework ideas from the article into a newsletter like this one.

I’ll also edit the article into a script for a series of short videos or one long video for my YouTube channel.

It’s much easier to write a week’s worth of social media content or record a YouTube video...if I have a pillar piece of content.

If you’re serious about writing online, pick one idea to write about each week.

Publish your content pillar on Medium, Substack, or your personal website.

ChatGPT can help you take pieces from your pillar piece of content and turn them into social media posts.

Or you can use an app like Grammarly to expand or shorten sections of your work.

Publishing iterations of work on different platforms will help you connect with readers in different ways.

You could take it further and write a short book.

A pillar piece of content like that can last for months.

It can help you land a high-paying writing job, sell courses, or offer coaching.

If you need help creating a content pillar, I’ve opened up a few spots in my coaching program. Reply to this email to learn more.

Write on,
