Hi Reader, I chased web traffic for my blog, for years. I spent hours using SEO tools and editing my articles so they ranked in Google Search results. More traffic meant more readers. And for a while, it worked. Then, Google changed how its search algorithm worked. Unlucky Bryan! My traffic tanked. Revenue dropped. And, I was gutted. Was I going out of business? But then I realized… there’s a much easier way to connect with readers. Email. By building an email list, I can write an article, record a video or create an offer… and send it directly to readers. I don’t have to worry much about an algo. Because I can write directly to YOU. Why am I telling you this? You see… But then I realized* will help you combine stories with education. These four simple words insert an emotional turning point into your writing. And they’ll help you teach a concept. These words help readers understand what you’re writing or talking about… WITHOUT you directly telling them. Let me show you some more examples I hated how I looked. I was skinny and pale. And I’d sciatica. And: I struggled to earn a living as a freelance writer. I’d get a good commission, work on it for a few weeks, get paid, and then scramble for more work. But then I realized I wasn’t spending any time pitching myself. I needed to spend an hour or two every week conating ideal clients. That way, I’d have a pipeline of new gigs lined up. Pro tip. Use these four words as prompts for writing your post. Now, during the editing process, press delete. You’ll end up with a unique combination of story + education.. with the transition hidden like a magician’s sleight of hand. Readers will wonder how you did it. Write on, P.S. I’m covering self-editing your content in my upcoming live workshop. It’s called Master Self-Editing. This live 90-minute workshop takes place on Thursday 14th November at 1500 GMT+1/1000 EST. I'll send you a recording if you buy a ticket and can’t make it live. |

Hi Reader, Are you overthinking your newsletter? I was on a Zoom call with a small business owner the other day. They said about their list: “I started my email list. It’s all segmented, but I’m not sending a regular email to my mailing list. I email them once a month or less. Have you any suggestions on how frequently ‘nurture’ emails should go out?” I’m always surprised when I hear objections like this. “I don’t want to annoy my email list” List owners regularly complain about this. But...
Hi Reader, I've geeked out on productivity apps for years. Nine out of ten are full of bloated features most people don't need. All I need? A way of seeing my work in one place and limiting the amount of tasks I work on each day. I've stuck with Trello the longest because it's ideal for this type of work. These days, I use Trello to manage my writing projects, content creation, and different parts of my business. I also use it to collaborate with other team members. I recorded this complete...
