Elon Musk wants to ban iPhones

Hi Reader,

Musk is putting the kibosh on Apple devices at Tesla and X.

He's telling employees on their way in the door to dump their iOS devices in a Faraday cage.

Musk blames AI.

You see...

A few days ago, the boffins in Cupertino announced Apple Intelligence.

According to Apple mumbo-jumbo, users can now use Apple Intelligence Writing Tools to write, proofread, and "generate content".

To do all this, Siri is passing off some queries to OpenAI.

I roar at my iPhone, and Siri shouts back with a ChatGPT souped-up response.

(Assuming Siri can now finally understand an Irish accent.)

Or I tap madly in Apple Note, and Siri solves my frazzled short-term memory by categorizing and organizing my ideas.

But Musk doesn't like the idea of Siri climbing into bed with OpenAI.

He says, in a deep CEO voice, that it's an "unacceptable security violation."

And this is from the man who let an army of bots and trolls loose on his personal social media platform.

The guy who's building Grok, X's lousy AI tool that summarizes news content and trolls.

I cry a little every time I open X...

But Musk is a smart dude.

The man is building electric Cybertrucks.

He’s also sending rockets to Mars.

So, I'm banning iPhones in my writing business too.

Generating content with AI is an unacceptable violation of my own content standards.

I like using AI to automate boring tasks, like transcribing videos or firing boilerplate responses to spammy outreach emails and off-the-wall pitches.

Not generating boring, bland, vanilla AI-generated content because it's quick and easy...

But relying on AI to add "humor and creativity" (yes, these words are in the Apple press release)...

That's a user experience I'm happy to skip.

Speaking of creativity…

Did you know indie authors published some 2.1 million books since 2021?

I found that stat inside my friend Cary Richards's new ebook. He wants you to dream big with your writing business. Download his book Beyond the Page here.

Write on,

Bryan Collins
