Climb this ladder for a 6-figure business
|
Hi Reader, You can climb many ladders and reach a 6-figure business. The first time around, I climbed it with courses, affiliate promotions, and display ads. I wouldn’t climb that ladder today, though. Frankly, it’s a frustrating case of two steps up and one step down. Competitors can easily and happily reverse-engineer affiliate content. Revenue from displays ads yo-yos depending on what’s happening with the algo and traffic. Even courses are hard to sell at scale unless you have a massive audience (more about that in a moment). Thankfully, I’ve found an easier and more rewarding approach. Here’s how you can climb it: 1. Build A Personal Brand What do you spend hours learning about simply because it’s fun? What do you know WAY more about than anyone in your circle? What skill do you have, that you can sell? Write and publish content about THAT under your own name, on social media. But don’t explain the how. (Save that for later) Instead, use stories and personal insights. Then, if people see you turn up regularly in their feeds, they’ll get to know, like, and trust you. ‘How to’ content (think explainers, guides, and tutorials) are easy to copy, but no one can reverse-engineer authentic personal content. No one can tell your story. Not even ChatGPT. But you’re not building a personal brand simply for likes, shares and vanity metrics, right? That brings me to… 2. Create One Hybrid Offer I thought creators needed to sell many things to many people to hit 6-figures. Take creating and selling online courses. Sell different types of courses to different types of students and customers. Serve a wider market and earn more. Sounds simple, right? Well, it’s painfully hard to launch different offers to different people. I’ve sold a dozen different online courses to thousands of students. I ended up writing more course materials, sales pages, and promos than I can remember. Some worked. Some tanked. The truth is you only need ONE hybrid offer to hit $100K. A hybrid offer brings together all of your existing offers and services under one roof. All you have to do is present your hybrid offer and charge for different levels of access. People will pay for increasing levels of access to you. And it’s easier to sell. Once you’ve created a hybrid offer, the final rung involves… 3. Systems I see myself as a writer first, but writing and publishing content every day isn’t enough. A system is key. A system for ideas. For publishing. For acquiring leads. For turning leads into clients. And for delivering value (the how-to or how-I content I told you about earlier). A system keeps your business ticking along even when the algorithms change, a client leaves, or revenue fluctuates. A system keeps you and your clients on track. It’s easy enough to install if you avoid shiny object syndrome. Write on, Bryan Collins PS Over the next few weeks, I’m helping creators, coaches, and consultants increase their monthly revenue by $10,000 by hitting the three rungs above. I only take 8 clients every month. And I’ve only 6 spots open at the minute. If you’d like the details - reply “LADDER” and I’ll send it over. |
