A secret revenue stream?
|
Hi Reader, I’m working more with more clients these days. I’ve got a few ideal clients. People who want to start writing online. Writers who want to go pro and get paid. And small businesses who need help with copywriting and content strategy. I noticed a few key trends among these groups. One that stands out? They’re all overlooking the power of email. I was a copywriter and content strategist for years, so it’s fun working in that field again. I spent the past few weeks reviewing the content strategy of several small businesses. They all want to rank in Google or go big on Insta, X, or some other fun, sexy network. Ranking in Google makes sense, but you can’t rely solely on SEO traffic these days. It’s too risky. Building an audience on social media is easy. The dopamine rush of posting something viral on Facebook or X is fun, but how often do these posts turn into money for your bank account? Selling on social media is hard. So what’s the answer? Well, I was surprised to find that many business owners overlook email. It’s not as trendy as the latest network from Meta, but… You can use email to share your best content, connect with potential clients, and sell. You see… Email is the foundation of my business. I only write on social to grow my email list. I share insightful content over email with subscribers and potential clients. And I pitch my latest offers in these emails. It’s a simple formula. One built for writers and small business owners. And it works great for most niches or industries. So, I spent the past few days advising clients to set up a newsletter using software like ConvertKit. If they’re running a newsletter, I say, “Send more emails!” And if they’re sending emails, I advise them to write insightful content that maps to a relevant offer. A good email doesn’t have to be salesy or pushy. If your emails contain fun, readable content, potential customers will happily open them. And they won’t blink if there’s a pitch or call-to-action to buy a product or service at the bottom of an email. You might not sell in email 1 or email 2, but keeps turning up in peoples’ inboxes, and they’ll have more reasons to hit the Buy Now button. Next week, I’m running a premium workshop to help you get your first 1k subscribers. If you sign up, you’ll also get Email Analyzer, a ChatBot I built to help you write better emails.
