Why ChatGPT still beats Google Gemini
I tested Google Gemini’s content creation capabilities. I wanted to see how it stacks up against ChatGPT and Claude for creating business copy. Google Gemini offers two interesting “gems” (think custom GPTs) for content creators: Copy Creator and Writing Editor. Copy Creator helps write taglines, mission statements, and social media posts. Writing Editor focuses on fixing grammar and improving content structure. I put both through their paces using content from my daily newsletter. When I fed a piece about niche selection into Copy Creator, it immediately asked smart questions about my target audience and brand guidelines. These questions I used to ask clients during my freelancing days before starting any content project. The output was… okay. It gave me a LinkedIn post that started with “CEOs, are you tired of throwing money at content that doesn’t deliver results?” It missed the mark on my original topic about niche selection. It also added hashtags - a rookie mistake since most people don’t use them on LinkedIn anymore. ChatGPT and Claude produced better results with the same input, though Claude’s version ran too long for LinkedIn. The Gemini Writing Editor proved more useful. I fed it an article draft with intentional errors. It caught grammar issues, highlighted repetitive phrases, and suggested structural improvements like breaking up long paragraphs. That said, you’re better off using Grammarly or Google Docs’ built-in checker for basic grammar fixes. The real value comes from the Writing Editor’s qualitative feedback about improving article flow and structure. Where Gemini shines is its integration with Google Workspace. If you’re already using Google’s tools, you can: Get instant email summaries But here’s the thing about all these AI writing tools - whether it’s Gemini, ChatGPT, or Claude. They’re just starting points. The real value comes from training them on your writing style and content needs. I’ve spent months training a Claude project for my workflow. While I still use ChatGPT for ideation (especially with its Canvas mode), Claude remains my daily driver for content creation. Gemini’s results vary, but its tight integration with Google’s ecosystem makes it worth considering if you’re already living in Google’s world. Pick the AI tool that fits your workflow and customize it until it meets your needs. I’m testing a private newsletter offering advanced AI-powered content templates, ideas, and prompts.
