This AI technique saved my pale, vampire-looking videos
My Irish vampire look disappeared with this AI technique… I can come up with an idea for and bash out a daily email for my list in twenty minutes. Recording a YouTube video takes 1–3 hours, as I’ve to write the script, sort the lighting and warm up for the video. To maintain momentum for my channel, I batch record them. AI still helps me with this creative workflow. I spent last Wednesday recording a few for April. I created some over-the-shoulder tutorials about a new process for crafting AI prompts for Claude and ChatGPT. The color on one of my talking head videos left me looking pale and washed out. My video editor can fix these problems in post-production… but I wasn’t shooting for an Irish vampire look. Frustrated but unwilling to reshoot everything, I wondered if AI could diagnose what went wrong. So, I took a screenshot from my Camtasia project and asked Claude what was wrong with the color temperature. Claude explained my video was over-exposed in technical terms. It also gave me some quick fixes and reading resources I could nerd up on. Next, I took a snap of my home office set up where I recorded my videos. (I’ve mounted a Canon R5 camera above a Mac Studio monitor. I also use an Elgato keylight for lighting and a Shure Microphone for narration. Sometimes, I use an Elgato prompter). Claude took a moment to think. Then, in a diagram, Claude illustrated where I should move my camera, microphone, and Elagto keylights to resolve my lighting woes. My AI video assistant popped out a list of budget-friendly and more expensive equipment I could buy to improve production quality. Once I re-arrange my audio and video gear, I’ll try another recording and compare the outputs. Or I’ll head over to Amazon to put a dent in my credit card. Even if you don’t record video, consider following a similar workflow for prompting AI. The next time you struggle to write a prompt or get an accurate output, take a photo or a screenshot and upload it into Claude or ChatGPT instead. A good picture can quickly stand in for a 1,000-word prompt! These AI tools are surprisingly good at articulating a problem inside a picture and finding solutions. I’ve been refining techniques like this visual prompting method for months, documenting precisely what works and what doesn’t when communicating with AI tools. The difference between average and exceptional results often comes down to these subtle approaches. That’s why I created PromptWritingStudio, my premium newsletter, where I share my best prompts and techniques for creators several times a week. You’ll get prompt workflows like this one but with much more detail—tested frameworks that save you hours of trial and error. Discover more. |
