How much faster can you create content with AI?
The average content creator can knock out 300-400 words per hour... if they stick their head down and don't get distracted. They could knock out a little more if they've super sharp keyboarding skills or dictate with an app like Otter. But how much faster can you create content with the help of AI? I wanted to find out. I custom-built a calculator that compares the process of creating content manually versus using AI. According to the calculator, I could write ad copy seven times faster using ChatGPT or Claude. And I could save up to 45 hours per month on my social media posts. Now a few caveats: I don't use AI for creative work. I still create these daily emails myself because I enjoy thinking through ideas by writing. I am, however, happy to use AI for content jobs that I don't see as creative, for example, writing Facebook ad copy or repurposing an email. Using a generic AI output is never a good idea, either. I still factor in time for editing and fact-checking. And I like inserting a personal angle into my content so it sounds, you know, like me. But, AI can help you go from blank page to first draft quickly and easily. In a way, an AI output is the ultimate writing prompt. My calculator will help you compare creating yourself versus using AI for a few different formats. It'll also offer some personalized advice about what to use AI for versus creating yourself.
