The 5-minute fix for outdated profile pics

Hi Reader,

Yesterday, I told you about my golden rules for affiliate marketing.

In case you missed it:

  1. Promote products and services only if you use or trust it.
  2. Promote a product or service only if it adds value to your audience.

Here’s an example:

I wanted to overhaul my social media profiles earlier this year. I was rocking out with a headshot of me 8 years ago when I had more hair and fewer wrinkles!

My pic wasn’t disingenuous, but I felt like a Tindr guy who turns up in real life and looks nothing like his profile pic.

I took a few snaps with my iPhone but couldn’t get the lighting right. My headshots either look overexposed or underlit. And I wasn’t about to take an afternoon off to ask a pro to photograph me.

I stumbled across Picstudio.ai.

It uses AI to turn amateur headshots into professional ones. You can buy packs for LinkedIn, authors, and even cosplay!

I took a few headshots, uploaded them, and paid $29 for my pack.

Boom!

It spat out 40 headshots for my social media profiles. They weren’t all good, but I’d more than enough. And the whole thing took less than five minutes.

Now, I’m building a YouTube playlist about how content creators can use LinkedIn to grow their brand and find clients.

I like creating content that solves problems. Surely, I’m not the only person who hates taking headshots?

I plugged the term into the YouTUbe SEO tool VIDIQ. Sure enough, this topic has thousands of searches.

So, I recorded a five-minute video showing how I used PicStudio.

I’m not trying to go viral with this piece of content. It’s simply a nice addition to my playlist. And it meets my criteria for promoting a product.

If a viewer buys a headshot package from my link, I earn $5.

That hardly quits your job money, but it’s a nice bonus. Those affiliate offers can add up.

Write on,
Bryan Collins

P.S. Next week, I’m promoting an offer by Matt McWilliams. He’s helping creators of all sizes build their own affiliate programs. I’ve worked with Matt a few times over the years. Smart guy. Watch your inbox.

Hi Reader, Do you find writing content hard? Figuring out what to post online takes time. And that’s before factoring in writing the post and turning followers into email subscribers or, gasp, clients! I get it. Lurking online is easier than writing and pressing publish. Sometimes, I fool myself into thinking it’s “market research”. But I know if I don't press publish, I won’t grow my brand. I almost always feel better when I write a post and press publish. If you’re feeling stuck like me,...

Hi Reader, This week, I launched a private Telegram community for readers of this email list. My goal is to share insider content about how I run my six-figure content business and help you add $3k to yours by 2025. I also want to explore other distribution channels that don't rely on an algo. Then, I can share the results with you so you can do the same. After I launched my Telegram community, a few subscribers emailed me to ask, "Why not WhatsApp?" Well, I picked Telegram because of its...

Hi Reader, For a few years, I was a content strategist for a Fintech. One of my projects was improving a newsletter for small business owners. The newsletter enjoyed a lousy 5% open rate. The back of a cereal box was more engaging than the boring product content inside the newsletter that a developer banged out between coding sessions. So, we stripped out the boring product content and started sending customer stories and how-to guides. And open rates slowly climbed towards 20%. My open rates...
