An instant goodbye to any city it lands on. Slàn Dublin (that’s Irish for goodbye). So far, no word on Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton, Ben Affleck, or Michael. According to AI, “current space science doesn’t support the idea of using a drill to stop an asteroid.” Crap. Now, the good news: ChatGPT says boffins are investigating strategies, including nuclear deflection, crashing a spacecraft into the rock, and even a gravity tractor that would fly alongside the rock and pull it off course. Oh, and the rock stands a better chance of crashing into the moon than Earth, although neither scenario is likely. So “don’t lose sleep over Asteroid YR4 2024”. Thanks ChatGPT. I can rest easy. The latest AI models are getting pretty good at synthesizing news sources and cutting through the noise on the web. I use ChatGPT and Perplexity more than Google to research and summarize news stories from multiple sources. I’ve even hot-wired ChatGPT voice mode to the quick action button on my phone to fact-check the latest doom-and-gloom story from mainstream news. The experience is far more enjoyable than wading through a trashy tabloid article stuffed with ads and pop-ups. Less time spent consuming content = more time creating content.
